Hospice Governance

Trustees

The Hospice Trustees are responsible for the governance of the Hospice and they form the Council of Management. Their role is to ensure that the Charity functions within the law in accordance with the Charity Commission rules and also that the resources are managed efficiently. They meet quarterly and hold an AGM in August of each year. The Council determines the strategic direction and ensures policies and procedures are in place to manage risk. Various sub-committees, each with a Trustee representation, work to monitor the different aspects of the Hospice. The Council elects Trustees for a 3-year term of office renewable at the AGM.

Willen Hospice Ventures Ltd

This is the subsidiary trading company of the Hospice. All fundraising activities of the Hospice are managed by Willen Hospice Ventures Ltd (WHV), ensuring the tax efficient transfer of all profits to the Hospice. WHV incorporates the shops and warehouse, the lottery and the events and promotions team for both the corporate and community sectors. WHV consists of Hospice Trustees but are termed Directors for the company, the Hospice Chief Executive being the Company Secretary. WHV Board meets quarterly and holds an AGM in July of each year. The functions of the Board are monitored through a number of Board sub-committees with Director representation on each.

Senior Management Team Willen Hospice

The team includes the:

• Director of Nursing & Patient Services
• Medical Director

• Director of HR
• Director of Business Development

They are responsible for the operational management of all services and ensuring the implementation of the Strategic Plan, also ensuring that agreed policies and procedures are adhered to and that the quality of services fully meets and where possible exceeds the requirements of statutory bodies.

NB Members of the Senior Management Team who have "Director" in their title are not "Company Directors" of Willen Hospice Ventures Ltd.
