How are we funded

Our services are free and only 23% of our costs are met through the NHS (Primary Care Trusts) covering areas within Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire and Northampton.  The Hospice needs to raise more than £3 million a year to provide its services so your support is vital.

Our fundraising arm, Willen Hospice Ventures Ltd (events, shops, lottery) is tasked with providing regular income for the Hospice, but we also rely very heavily on the loyal and committed financial support of our individual donors, business supporters and the voluntary efforts of the community to ensure the future funding of our work. 

Events

Our Event and Promotions Team organize and support a comprehensive calendar of fundraising events during the year, including the popular MK MIdnight Moo and are always on hand to discuss ways in which you think you may be able to fundraise for us.

Volunteers

Much of the behind-the-scenes work is undertaken by our many Volunteers. Without their support in, for example, the Laundry, Kitchen, Gardens, Day Hospice, Lottery, Shops and the Warehouse we would not survive.

Shops

We have 10 Willen Hospice shops (7 general,1 bookshop and 2 furniture stores), which are run by our Shop Managers and Retail Supervisors. All our shops are supported by an admirable team of volunteers. 

Lottery

Our weekly lottery now sells over 7,000 tickets each week, assisted once again by our many volunteers and supporters. . 

Friends of Willen Hospice

Friends of Willen Hospice are a group of dedicated volunteers who enthusiastically raise money from various community events every year. They aim to raise enough money each year to cover all the costs of a bed at the Hospice. . 

Individuals and Organisations

Individuals in our local commuinites, local organisations, churches, companies and several Charitable Trusts support our work too. We value each and every fundraising initiative and donation because we know just how much difference it will make to the lives of our patients and families.
