The Wolverton Light Orchestra, Music Makers of Milton Keynes and the MKDRS Choir entertained a packed audience at Lovat Hall, Newport Pagnell on Sat Oct 18. There were songs from West End shows and popular classics including Gilbert and Sullivan. Local companies and shops also supported the event by providing raffle prizes. The whole event raised an amazing £2,500.
The Friends of Willen Hospice were delighted to receive a cheque for £4,000 from the Drayton Parslow Sporting Clays. The money was raised from a Clay Pigeon Shoot day organised by them, with the support of the Bucks Army Cadet Force, at Kingsland Farm (home of the Drayton Parslow Sporting Clays) and an auction of promises.
The donation will be used by the Friends to add to their efforts to fully fund a bed at the Hospice this year - in excess of £60,000.

In February some 500 Mercedes-Benz staff and family members joined in the fun and laughter at two performances of the pantomime ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ put on by staff members at the company’s UK headquarters in Tongwell.
The cast and helpers raised in excess of £2,000 in support of the fundraising activities of the Friends of Willen Hospice.
Mercedes-Benz UK President and CEO Wilfried Steffen praised the pantomime team’s efforts:
“We are really proud of both the cast and the backstage crew for putting on such great entertainment for everyone – with all the work done on top of their already demanding jobs – and delighted that their hard work and the audience’s generosity resulted in such a great result for our neighbours at Willen Hospice.”

Strutting Stars Line Dancers presented Friends Committee member, Fred Roberts, with a cheque for £575 at their end of year social, held November 2007 at the Coronation Hall Bletchley.
Collecting Tins
The Friends collecting tins in shops, offices and pubs throughout the borough and Buckingham continue to make an important contribution to fund raising efforts. In January 2008 the tins alone raised over £3,000.
Please contact us if you would like to have a collecting tin in your shop/office/pub.
Buckets collections at supermarkets are proving very successful. A special mention to Sue Russell and the Buckingham volunteers who raised over £1,300 in just one day at the town's Tesco.
