The John ‘Snoz’ Baker Tenth Anniversary Memorial Golf Day, held at the Aylesbury Vale Golf Club, was organised by John Kembery as part of his fund raising activities. In the past 10 years John has raised over £38,000. The day proved highly successful raising another £600 towards John’s target of £40,000 before the end of 2010.
For many years the Marks and Spencer staff and social club have supported the Friends by organising the annual Quiz Night which is held each autumn at Great Linford Memorial Hall and other activities. In 2009 fund raising within the store raised over £11,000. Joan Sidebottom, the Friends chairman received the cheque from members of staff. Our thanks to Marian Boardman for all her hard work and our best wishes on her retirement.
The Strutting Stars Line Dance club from Bletchley ran a 12 hour line dancing marathon and raised an amazing £5,000. The cheque was collected on behalf of the Friends by Chairman Joan Sidebottom and Committee member, Fred Roberts.

On 31 October the Friends organised a Voices for Hospices evening in Newport Pagnell parish church attended by the Mayor and Mayoress of Milton Keynes, Euan and Irene Henderson.
The Newport Singers and the Cranfield-based choir Sounds Familiar, presented a varied programme from Beetle and Abba favourites to Zadok the priest by Handel.
The event raised in excess of £800. The Friends wish to thank the choirs for giving their time free and the vicar and parishioners of Newport Pagnell for giving the use of the church. Voices for Hospices is a wave of simultaneous concerts around the globe, which takes place on World Hospice and Palliative Care Day. It is held every two years.

The Friends' major fund raising event this year turned out to be a “Ye Haa” sort of an evening, when they played host to some 300 people at Manor Farm Sherington on June 27th.

The barn, kindly donated by Mr M Cook was the ideal setting for a Barn Dance and Pig Roast. Dancing to local band “3 Sticks” with Bob Adams as caller the event was voted a huge success and raised in excess of £2500.

Collecting Tins
The Friends collecting tins in shops, offices and pubs throughout the borough and Buckingham continue to make an important contribution to fund raising efforts. In 2009 the tins raised in excess of £23,000.
Please contact us if you would like to have a collecting tin in your shop/office/pub.

Buckets collections at supermarkets are proving very successful. A huge thank you to all the volunteers who helped to raise in excess of £14,500 during 2009.
