A painting - "Transference" - was recently auctioned by artist Helen Thomas to support the work of Wakefield and Willen Hospice. Helen lives in Wakefield and a member of her family was cared for at Willen.
Not only did Willen Hospice receive half of the proceeds of the auction (£500) but also the painting itself. Winning bidders, Jack and Marta Smith from Yorkshire generously donated the artwork back to Willen Hospice where it, most appropriately, graces the entrance to the new Day Hospice.

Pictured in front of the painting at the Day Hospice entrance are (left to right):
Helen Thomas (artist), John Welding (husband of Anne Welding), Paul Hinson (Hospice Chief Executive) and Melody Hornblow (Day Hospice Co-ordinator).
Melody feels the new painting will act as an inspiration to Day Hospice users in their own artwork and creations.
