Many local companies support us through gifts in kind. This means they donate their time, services or products to us.
Sainsbury’s and The Baguette Co. are two such organisations who have made the decision to donate their unsold goods to us at the end of the day – rather than see them go to landfill.
The Baguette Co. is based in Bedford and sells and supplies baguettes in Milton Keynes. They have been donating baguettes to the Hospice for about 2 years. Staff at the Hospice can then enjoy them in return for a small donation. Sue Hill, owner, commented:
“I hate waste and we drive past the Hospice on our way home every evening, so if we have any left-over baguettes we drop them in for the staff. I am pleased that they are also able to raise money by accepting donations for them.”
Sainsbury’s recently decided to donate the fresh flowers left at the end of each day to local charities. The Hospice collects flowers left-over from the weekend on a Monday morning. The majority of them are used to brighten up patient areas in the Hospice and the rest are offered to staff for a donation.
We are very grateful to both of these companies for supporting us in this way and all the other companies that support us in countless other ways.
