Milton Keynes’ pan-Asian Silk Road restaurant is one of the first places, if not the first, in Milton Keynes to put up its Christmas tree – almost three months early.
But it is not without reason that management have begun their festivities because they have teamed up with Willen Hospice to help raise funds for the charity between now and Christmas Day. The Grafton Gate restaurant currently has a bare 6ft tree in its reception. However, for the next three months, customers are encouraged to bring a bauble and, in return, management will donate £1 to Willen Hospice. Alternatively, customers will be able to pay £2 to buy a bauble at the venue.
General manager at Silk Road, Samad said:
“Summer is truly over and the winter weather is here. Now begins the run up to Christmas, which offers many opportunities for helping others. Willen Hospice is very dear to my heart and I wanted to come up with a fun and exciting way to help them raise as much money as possible for their wonderful cause.”
The Silk Road will start collecting baubles this week and will finish the collection on Christmas Day. A cheque will later be presented to Willen Hospice.
Melanie Harriss, Marketing Manager for the Hospice said:
“We are very grateful to Silk Road for supporting the Hospice in this innovative and festive way. The support we receive from local business is essential to ensuring that Willen Hospice can provide its care now, and in the future.”
The number of baubles is limited to one per person but unlimited to the number of visits.
