Willen Hospice’s annual business reception took place on Thursday 27th September at the Ramada Encore in Central Milton Keynes and the event was very well attended.
The opportunity was taken to talk to the business community about the Hospice's financial results for the last fiscal year - which unfortunately showed a shortfall in funding of £100,000 - and to engage further support. The Hospice receives only a quarter of its funding from the NHS and has to raise over £2 million a year in order to provide its many services. For this, it relies very much on the support of the local business community.
During the proceedings the attendees were introduced to Paul Hinson who will succeed Christopher Eyes as Chief Executive next year. Paul is currently Director of Nursing and Patient Services at Willen Hospice and has a background in senior management of cancer services in the NHS. Christopher Eyes retires in April 2008 after nearly 10 years of service and he and Paul will work closely together in the intervening time to ensure a smooth transition of office.

Paul Hinson commented:
“It will be fantastic to lead such a positive and dynamic organisation. I will strive to continue the development of the service to best meet the needs of people from Milton Keynes and the surrounding area with the help of all who give so generously to the Hospice.”
Christopher Eyes commented:
“I am absolutely delighted with Paul’s appointment, and am confident the Hospice will continue to grow from strength to strength under his leadership.”
