Willen Hospice is urgently appealing to the general public for donations of unwanted clothing and accessories. The Hospice charity shops can then recycle them by selling them on to raise funds and help finance patient care. Willen Hospice provides complex and specialist care to over 400 terminally ill adults a year and also support to families and friends. It only receives a quarter of its funding from the government and has to fundraise to meet the shortfall. Funds raised by the Willen Hospice Charity Shops play an important part in meeting the shortfall.

Anne views empty bays at the warehouse
Donations of clothes, accessories and bric-a-brac to the Hospice warehouse and shops have hit an all time low. A combination of credit crunch, people not buying as many new clothes, holding on to their old ones for longer and not clearing out as frequently, plus, more national charities and other agencies appealing for donations directly to local households, has had a dramatic effect on our donations.
John Acres, Shops and Trading Manager, commented:
“We desperately need good quality clothes, bags and shoes to sell in our shops to make money for the Hospice. We can also take textiles in any condition to sell on as rags - if marked up.”
Donations can be dropped off at the warehouse in Kiln Farm (call 01908 578250) or any of the Hospice Shops in Stony Stratford, Leighton Buzzard, Towcester, Olney, Bletchley, Buckingham and Newport Pagnell or at the Hospice in Willen Village.
