Barbara (warehouse volunteer) shows how it is done
The weather was almost perfect as 19 Willen Hospice staff, volunteers and supporters, with ages ranging from 18-80 took to the skies of Oxfordshire, jumping out of an aircraft at 13,000ft. The jump took place at "Hinton in the Hedges Airfield" on Saturday 9th May. The word "hedges" conjured up a worrying scenario but quite unecessarily as everyone landed safely on target and, thankfully, not a hedge in sight!
The team tandem parachute jump was organised to raise much needed funds for the Hospice. In February the Hospice predicted that it would end the year with over a half million pound deficit in funding.
Paul Hinson, Hospice Chief Executive – and one of the jumpers - commented:
“It was a fantastic experience and it is really encouraging to me that so many staff and Hospice supporters took up this challenge and raised such a great amount for the Hospice. I feel hopeful that this is the start of a much more positive financial year for us.”
