On Saturday 18th July 1,000 ladies walked 10 miles at night as part of Milton Keynes’ first ever midnight walk – the MK Midnight Moo. The event was organised by, and in aid of, Willen Hospice and raised over £100,000.

The walkers started to congregate at Midsummer Place from 9:30pm to register and were treated to a Zumba warm-up courtesy of Celebrate Health and Fitness. The walk was officially started at midnight by the Mayor of Milton Keynes, Euan Henderson, and took in thecentre:mk, Campbell Park, Willen, Great Linford, Stantonbury, Bancroft and Rooksley and finished back at Midsummer Place.

The first to complete the 10 miles were Alison Tetley and Gill Puddefoot from Newport Pagnell in 2 hours and 45 minutes.
Flo, our knitted mascot, was on hand to help fundraise on the night. Flo had been lovingly created by staff and clients of the Knitting Hut, Woburn Sands who worked hard to knit squares, some during a Tea at 3 event in June.
Paul Hinson, Chief Executive of Willen Hospice, commented:
“The atmosphere was out of this world. I would like to thank everyone involved; walkers, Hospice staff and volunteers for making it such a success. This was an amazing event, not only for the Hospice, but for Milton Keynes and we are already looking forward to next year.”
