In spite of torrential rain on Sunday morning, Walk for Willen and the Summer Garden Party went ahead, albeit with a slightly reduced programme.

The star attraction was undoubtedly Minty (Eastenders star, Cliff Parisi), who came along to open the Summer Garden Party and had a very good effect on the weather - the sun actually came out! Minty stayed for over an hour to sign autographs and have photographs taken with fans and also popped in to visit patients at the Hospice.

In the end the event was extremely well attended and much busier than previous years, even though some of the entertainment and stalls had to be cancelled due to the weather. Early estimates are that the Garden Party has raised nearly £5,000 (more than last year). Over 800 people took part in the Walk for Willen which took place before the Garden Party and this is also looking promising. The event raised over £20,000 for the Hospice last year and we are hoping for another good result this year.
The Summer Draw will take place on July 6th 2009 , live on Heart Radio and there is still time to buy tickets if you haven't already done so!
Thanks to all who attended and made this a success and especially Minty.
