Following the success of Team Corley Cycles of Milton Keynes in 2007 raising funds for Willen Hospice through the success of their team in Cycle racing results in the UK, Corley Cycles and Willen Hospice are pleased to announce the continuation of the fund raising venture into 2008.

As well as sponsoring and supporting a number of local racing cyclists Team Corley Cycles will continue the linkage of the success of the team in races and other competitive cycling events to raising money for Willen Hospice. Wins and high places in events will trigger contributions to a fund which will be presented to the charity at the end of the 2008 racing season.
Phil Corley of Corley Cycles, one time British National Professional Road Race Champion, commented:
“In 2007 we were delighted to be able to support local competitive cycle racing as well as help a very worthwhile local charity. The linkage based on competitive success gave the team a unique competitive and motivational edge which was channeled to helping a great cause. Last year we raised over £4500 for Willen Hospice and we are targeting to increase that figure in 2008”
Phil has also secured the continued and enthusiastic support of a number of his key local suppliers including Trek Bikes and Madison Cycles who were both pleased to endorse the charitable but competitive spirit of the team and they also welcomed the linkage to Willen Hospice as a new and different way of contributing to the local community. The team will be riding this years’ new and specifically prepared Trek Madone 6.5 racing bikes finished in team colours of red, black and white.
The team will include a number of Elite, first and second category riders, with international experience and a number of ex and current national champions. Roy Chamberlain is the current LVRC road Race Champion for the 40 – 45 age group and Don Parry won the LVRC Percy Stallard National Series for the 55 – 60 age group. Other riders include Matthew Higgins, Richard Cartland, Mark Wordsworth, Karl Freeman, Martin Freeman, Nick Jones, Tom Martin and Tom Kirk. Their targets include the National Premier Calendar Road Race series and National Elite Circuit Race series.
Paul Hinson, Chief Executive designate of Willen Hospice, said:
“We are delighted to be benefiting from this new sporting approach to fundraising and we will be following the team results closely. We will have the results posted regularly to our website so we can see how the funds are building up through the year.”
