World Hospice and Palliative Care Day is a unified day of action to celebrate and support hospice and palliative care around the world. It takes place this year on October 6th 2007 in conjunction with Voices for Hospices - a global musical marathon event which facilitates thousands of concerts around the world in support of Hospice care and which is the official fundraising event for World Hospice and Palliative Care Day 2007.
Every year there are millions of people around the world, from babies to the elderly who are diagnosed with a terminal illness. Access to high quality hospice care, which aims to meet the needs of the whole person, is essential to prevent unnecessary pain.
There are several musical events in and around Milton Keynes that have been arranged in support of Voice for Hospices to fundraise for Willen Hospice, and also to raise awareness of the International Hospice Movement:
6th October
Proms Across the Ages - Christ the Cornerstone Church - an evening of performances by various local music groups. Tickets £8.50 with concessions available.
Secklow Brass Concert - Stantonbury Campus
Cranfield Choir "Sounds Familiar" - Stewartby Village Hall
Charity Concert - Cottesloe School
20th October
Musical Extravaganza - Longueville Hall, Newton Longville
