This extreme trial requires its participants to trek up to Everest Base Camp, which sits at 17,000 feet above sea level, and run back down within 12 hours of the start time – experiencing high altitude and extreme temperatures on the way.
Sheila trained harder for this event than for any other challenge she has completed to date, running 15-20 miles several times a week with a backpack…
“It has been the hardest challenge I have undertaken so far. I have never been so cold and longed for my home comforts so much. For sure, what kept me going in my darkest moments was the thought of how much love and support I have received from all my family, friends, work colleagues and even people who hardly know me, who have helped me to support Willen Hospice once again. Many, many thanks to you all.”
Sheila has now raised over £20,000 for Willen Hospice from completing this extreme challenge. If you would like to add to this total, please visit http://www.justgiving.com/Sheilamarathonlady
