A years worth of fundraising
After a year of innovative fundraising, colleagues at Sainsbury’s Milton Keynes have raised £9336.00 for Willen Hospice.
Back in June last year, Sainsbury’s customers and colleagues in Milton Keynes nominated Willen Hospice to be their Charity of the Year. During the year, the charity, was supported by store colleagues through a number of fundraising activities which included:
- Moo Walk – team effort
- Bingo night
- London Marathon
- Dressing up for Halloween
- Golf Day
- Back waxing
- Basking
- Colleagues donating an hours pay every month
- Raffles
- Climbing Snowdon
- Parachute Jump
- Sweep stakes
- Name of teddy
- Local Hero donations (a company scheme where we apply for an extra donation when we have raised money)
- Rotary club donation having Christmas float based in store
The cheque was recently presented to staff at Willen Hospice.

Elaine Johnston, Community Fundraiser, at Willen Hospice said: “We’re really grateful for the fantastic efforts of the staff and customers at Sainsbury’s Milton Keynes. They have really helped to raise the profile of our charity and the money raised will help us to continue to provide our specialist care.”
And store manager Nick Wynne added: “From volunteering to the many fundraising activities that we’ve held, our customers have really helped to support our fundraising during our year’s partnership with Willen Hospice. To anyone who’s contributed to our overall total, all of our colleagues would like to thank you. Your donations have helped to support a local charity that’s close to many people’s hearts in Milton Keynes”
