Best Dressed Cowtest

This year’s moooost prestigious awards were announced this week – the MK Midnight Moo awards for the ‘Best Moovellously Dressed’ participants.

Two thousand women took to the streets of Milton Keynes on July 17th at midnight to take part in the second
MK Midnight Moo, and a huge effort was made by everyone who dressed up in some brilliantly creative costumes.

Best Moovellously Dressed Individual

The award for ‘Best Moovellously Dressed Individual’ goes to Angela Bell who travelled all the way from Leicester to take part in this fantastic event for Willen Hospice. Angela, who walked the route with mum (Christine Holland) from Winslow, sported cowprint slippers and shorts, along with cow accessories and a cheeky look-a-like ‘bare-bottom’ that many walkers took time out to pat. Angela said:

“I can’t believe I have won a trophy for exposing “my bottom!”. For those of you who were in two minds, it was actually a latex bum but it certainly turned quite a few heads and made everyone laugh. Everyone will agree it was a great evening and we raised lots of money for the Hospice and I will be back again next year, so watch out for the cheeky, cheeky bum!”

Best Moovellously Dressed Team

Equally deserved winners – Emma Scott & Stephanie Shaw from Bletchley and Woburn Sands were crowned the ‘Best Moovellously Dressed Team’ and completed their walk in inflatable cow costumes in just under 4 hours. Emma, who runs a pub in Eversholt has raised thousands for Willen over the years after having had personal experience of knowing people who have passed away in the Hospice. The costumes were kept inflated by a battery-powered motor and they both had to change their batteries half way around.

Emma walked alone at last year’s event in under 3 hours, just behind the leader but was grateful to have the company of friend Stephanie this year.

Each winner received an especially designed 100% concrete hand crafted cow, which includes a certificate of authentication. The award was proudly presented at the Hospice by none other than Florence Moo.

Another Award pending

Pauline Mitchelmore, Event Co-ordinator at Willen Hospice, commented:

“It was fantastic to see the effort of all the herd members at the event this year. We have had great fun judging these awards and, although we had to find overall winners, we think everyone was udderly moovellous.”

One more award is up for grabs and later in the year, Willen Hospice will reveal the MK Midnight Moo fundraising champion for 2010.

Next year’s MK Midnight Moo will take place on Saturday 16th July 2011 – registrations are now being taken at www.mkmidnightmoo.com
