Bowled Over

Gill Lee, Ambassador for Willen Hospice was bowled over when she was presented with a cheque for £3,700 by the Stony Stratford Ladies Bowling Club at their end of season party on the 8th October.

The money which was raised as a result of the club’s ’24 Hour Bowling Marathon’ was generously collected to help the work of Willen Hospice. The marathon which was organised by Club Captain Rosie Lonergan and Vice Captain Maureen French was based on two teams playing competitive bowls in hourly sessions over 24 hours starting at 11am on Friday 27th August.

The event saw 34 lady members, including a nurse from the Hospice compete in a fun and action packed day and evening and raised a fantastic amount for the Hospice.

Gill Lee who was presented with the cheque said: “It was a wonderful surprise to be presented with the cheque for such a generous amount. We’re so pleased that the ladies enjoyed raising the sponsorship as well as taking part in the event, but Willen Hospice is the real winner on this occasion.”

Willen Hospice relies heavily on donations from local organisations and this contribution will allow us to continue making a difference to the lives of patients and families.
