Carers visit Bletchley Park

Willen Hospice Carer's Support Service recently arranged a special visit to Bletchley Park, the most renowned centre for code-breaking during the second world war and home of the Enigma machine.   The group (made up of patients and families known to the Carer's Support Service) were treated to guided tours followed by refreshments, a chat and a good old sing song of Vera Lynn war time favourites such as: "It's a long way to Tipperary", "White Cliffs of Dover" and "We'll Meet Again".  The theme of the afternoon was World War II - Do You Remember?

Some of those present were able to reminisce about their own experiences of evacuation and rationing. Others were too young to have experienced these things but enjoyed hearing about how people lived in war-time Britain.

The Mayor of Milton Keynes, Cllr Debbie Brock, who has made Bletchley Park and Willen Hospice her charities for the year, popped in for tea and a chat with the group.

Willen Hospice is very grateful to the staff at Bletchley Park for making the afternoon so interesting and enjoyable.
