Dragon Boat Glory
Great Fun, Great Weather, Great Effort from all involved at the 10th MK Dragon Boat Festival
Willen Hospice was delighted to have been
nominated as Festival Charity for the tenth
Milton Keynes Dragon Boat Festival, sponsored by Easycopiers and held at Willen Lake on
Sunday 26 June.
The event was a spectacular success attracting 59 crews (over 1,200 competitors) and an estimated 12,000 spectators for a fantastic day’s racing in glorious hot sunshine.
The crews, representing businesses, organizations and groups of friends from all over Milton Keynes and the surrounding area battled it out all day in 5-boat races over a 200m race course. At the same time, they raised huge sums of money for Willen Hospice and other great causes.
Eventual winners were Pistificated Pirates, pictured below, representing Ian Smith Construction & Pell Frischmann who were the fastest team throughout the day and were also a mixed team (minimum seven ladies).
