The Friends of Willen Hospice have raised an amazing £100,000 in the last year for the Hospice. This brings the total amount donated to the Hospice by the Friends to over £1,500,000 since the fundraising started over 31 years ago.

The money has been raised through numerous activities including collections and events.

Last year saw the special achievement by one of their most ardent supports – John Kemberry, - who set himself the challenge to raise £40,000 for the Hospice in 10 years. In 2010 John achieved this remarkable goal.

The Friends, originally known as The League of Friends, were formed in 1979 when a number of current friends joined a group supporting local GP Dr Marjorie Reid who led the movement to set up a Hospice in Milton Keynes.

Some 31 years later they are still an essential part of the Hospice community with the aim still, to support the cost of one bed, in addition to purchasing equipment required by staff to improve patient care.

The Friends manage a very successful shop within the Hospice which helps to raise essential funds.  Stocking up below is Joan Sidebottom, Chairman of  Friends of Willen Hospice

In their 31st year the Friends Committee would welcome new members to help them raise the next £500,000.
