In a spin for funds

A coin collecting ‘Vortex’ machine has landed in Midsummer Place in time for Willen Hospice’s 30th anniversary celebrations and the staff at the Hospice are hoping it will become an essential part of the Hospice’s fundraising for 2011.

Visitors to Midsummer Place can support the Hospice by simply placing a coin in the shoot provided and watch it spiral faster and faster around the whirlpool until disappearing into the ‘vortex centre’.

The Mayor of Milton Keynes, Cllr Debbie Brock helped launch this innovative piece of fundraising equipment with Willen Hospice Chief Executive,  Paul Hinson and Midsummer Place centre manager, Martin Hindson.

The Vortex is launched

Paul Hinson said: “This is a new and contemporary way of raising money for the Hospice that reflects the way we are approaching our 30th anniversary and beyond. We are also extremely grateful to the Mayor of Milton Keynes for choosing us as one of her charities for her Mayoral year and for helping launch this wonderful piece of equipment. We are equally grateful to Martin and Midsummer Place for offering to house the ‘Vortex’ machine throughout the coming year.”
