MK Dons support Willen Hospice
Official Charity Partners
MK Dons have partnered with Willen Hospice following the Football Leagues initiative in selecting Help The Hospices as their Official Charity Partner for the 2011/12 season.
The Club will raise awareness and vital funds for the Hospice and the Dons have dedicated two home fixtures this season, starting with the game against Notts County on Saturday 1st October as their match day collection for the charity, and then the match against Exeter on 10th March.
On 1st October, season ticket holders will be able to donate their 5% discount in the MK Dons Club Superstore directly to Willen Hospice. Keep an eye out for the bucket collectors from Willen Hospice and remember to dig deep! Florence Moo will also be visiting the MK Dons to participate in some of the fun match day entertainment with her fellow Moo’s, Donny and Mooie.
Willen Hospice will be in attendance at the Family Day on Saturday 22nd October so please come and visit our stand to find out about the free services we provide and to meet some of our wonderful Hospice team. Flo will also be taking part in the Family Day Mascot Race – make sure you come down to cheer her on!
This will be followed by a week long promotion of Help The Hospices as a whole by all 72 Football League Clubs from March 7th to March 13th 2012.
Pete Winkelman, chairman of the MK Dons, said: “Having seen first hand what fantastic work Willen Hospice does in providing palliative care to the local community, I would strongly urge supporters to back this cause in whatever way they can. We look forward to continuing our strong relationship with the Hospice and hope that the money they raise from their 1st October collection and the week in March will continue to benefit residents of Milton Keynes and the surrounding area.”
Paul Hinson, Chief Executive, said “We rely heavily on the support of our local community to ensure we can continue to provide our specialist, advanced care and we are delighted that MK Dons have chosen Willen Hospice as their Football Leagues Official Charity Partner for the 2011/12 season. Willen Hospice only receives 23% of its funding from the Primary Care Trust which means we have to raise £3.2 million a year to enable us to continue to provide our free services to the community of Milton Keynes. With the MK Dons support we hope this will help us achieve our vision, to be the lasting and thriving provider of free care to all people affected by life limiting illness in our community. We would like to thank them for their continued support.”
