Marathon Boxing for Willen

Paul Tilbury boxed for an incredible 26, three minute rounds, at the weekend, to raise money for Willen Hospice.

Starting at 9.30am, the Operations Manager at Midsummer Place began his mammoth task in front of a crowd at the Red Hot World Buffet on Sunday. Paul’s 26 round alternative to the London Marathon’s 26 miles, was an intense session of heavy punches on a suspended punch bag.

Even on the last round, Paul gave everything he had to complete his challenge that has taken months of preparation and training. He said: “This is something I have wanted to do for a long time. The training has been hard and I was halted by illness but I was determined to keep going. During the challenge, around the 22nd round, my quad gave a little but I was completely in a zone.

“I want to thank everyone for their support, without their help this would have not been possible.”

Julia Rogerson, Events Manager at Willen Hospice, said: “This was an amazing feat and such an exciting challenge. Paul is a great supporter of the Hospice and we are all really proud of him.”

So far, Paul has raised over £600 for Willen Hospice.
