Pearl Anniversary

On Friday 20th May Willen Hospice held its 30th Anniversary Ball at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel.

The evening was an amazing success. The Clydesdale Ballroom had been dressed to perfection and  transformed into an underwater setting with unique table centres of giant fish bowls complete with live fish and oyster shells.  Guests were also greeted by a live mermaid! 

The highlight of the evening was the Grand auction, hosted by Charlie Ross. The skill of the celebrity auctioneer had the guests enthralled and thanks to his professionalism succeeded in bringing the room to its feet as the Willen necklace, generously donated by Woolfe Jewellery, went to auction raising £20,000. The successful bidder then requested that it be re-auctioned and was finally won for the second time raising a further £12,000!

The auction, and all the other fundraising activity on the night, has so far raised £58,000 to help fund the much-needed specialist care the Hospice provides – with donations still being received.

Julia Rogerson, Events and Promotions Manager at Willen Hospice, said: “I am overwhelmed by the generosity, warmth and feeling of all those who attended our Ball and helped to make it such a successful event. This support has made us believe that the local community really do want us to always be there to care.”
