Run for Willen

Could you be inspired to run a marathon for Willen Hospice?  All runners with a range of motivations are encouraged to take up the challenge, be it for a personal achievement or health goal, or purely to help raise funds.

Joanne's inspiration

Former MK resident Joanne Campbell is flying over 10,000 miles to run the Virgin London Marathon to raise funds for Willen Hospice.

Joanne currently lives in Perth, Australia and has decided to run the Marathon as her Auntie was cared for at the Hospice. Joanne feels that travelling for over 24 hours and then pounding the streets of London for 26 miles is a fitting challenge to raise funds for the organisation which is close to her heart!

Joanne said “The Hospice treated my Auntie with such compassion, love and the upmost care whilst she lived out her last days, so this is my payback to say thank you to Willen Hospice for everything they did. The task of training for, and running the Marathon is extremely daunting, but the thought of the funds I have raised to support the team at Willen will keep me going right till the very end."

Don’t despair if you missed out on a place in the London Marathon this year, you can still be part of history by joining the first Milton Keynes Marathon.

At Willen Hospice marathon runners get lots of support, a special Hospice running vest, the ability to connect with other runners through the Hospice runner’s Facebook page and regular catch ups where they can get together and share training tips and receive advice.
