“We are absolutely thrilled to have been recognised at a national level for the achievements of the Service User Group. The group consists of members of staff from all the clinical areas of the organisation working in conjunction with patients and their families who have used our services. The group are committed to improving the experience that patients, families and friends have at Willen Hospice and this award demonstrates their passion and enthusiasm”.
The Service User Group, SUG
The SUG is an informal group, led by Sister Doreen Thompson, which was set up in September 2010. The purpose of the group is to enable the hospice to provide evidence of patient and public consultation on matters directly related to patient care within the service. The group ensures that patient’s carers and members of the public have a say in our service provision promoting standards of excellence in patient care within the hospice and in the community.
Competition in the category was extremely high with entries from Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, East Lancashire Medical Services and Leicester City PCT to name a few.
