Willen Hospice Carer's Day
On Monday 13 June, Willen Hospice hosted a special Carer's Day , for carers and friends of patients known to Willen Hospice. This co-incided with Carer's Week (13-19 June) one week in the year when the important contribution of carers in society is recognised.
A large number of local agencies were present to talk and offer advice to carers. These included representatives from : MK End of Life Team, Continuing Healthcare Team , Adult and social care MK Council, Age UK, Pyschology, Macmillian Advice, MKGH Specialist Nurses and Link MK. There were also professionals on hand to give advice on financial and legal matters.
Other visitors included the Mayor of Milton Keynes, Cllr Alan Richards and Hospice Trustees.

Overall, 15 carers visited - some of them for the first time. They were offered a warm welcome, a listening ear, drinks, food and complementary therapies including: Reflexology, Indian Head Massage, Meditation and Tai Chi.
The Carers Support Service is extremely grateful for the commitment of all the staff and external professionals who helped to make this such a special day. Thanks also to MK Mayor, Cllr Alan Richards for popping in to meet everyone on the day.
