Yes, I went walkies

Walk for Willen 2011

On Sunday 5th June 700 people "Walked for Willen"   - a three mile sponsored walk around the North and South Lakes, or a shorter walk of one and a half miles around the North Lake only, both of which started and finished at the Hospice.   This was in addition to a large number of dogs who also completed the task, including Sugar, pictured.  

Darth Vader and a couple of storm troopers started the proceedings, many people keeping the former at a very safe distance!  Spiderman also put in an appearance as did Flo our very own MK Midnight Moo mascot .

Summer Garden Party

After the walk people were able to chill out to the sights and sounds of a Summer Garden Party. There was live music from the Fenny Stompers and the  Bolivian Sunshine Dogs, Zumba, Refreshments, Stalls and Games for all the family.

So far the day has raised a fantastic £7,500 that will all go towards providing specialist care to Hospice patients and their families.Events and Community Fundraiser, Allison Waterhouse said:
“It was a great day and the weather didn’t seem to deter people from coming along and enjoying themselves. We are delighted at the level of support and participation and how much these annual events have raised in this, our 30th year.”

Thanks to our many volunteers

These events were heavily supported by many volunteers , including a team from Santander  who helped to set-up marquees, stalls and equipment for the day and also made a donation to help cover costs.

A special memory wall was erected on the fence by the lake, in the Hospice grounds, for people to leave a message in memory of a loved one.
