The group will provide feedback on hospice services and share ideas for improvements and future development of services. A team of specialist nurses who work in the community with your GP and District Nurse. Their aim is to help you understand and cope with your illness.
Clinical Nurse Specialists
Skilled, experienced nurses who have knowledge in supporting individuals with life limiting illness.
Hospice at Home Nursing Team
The team works closely with the Clinical Nurse Specialists and District Nurses. They provide practical care and help with symptom control in the home.
The Day Hospice gives you the opportunity to participate in the many varied complementary therapies and activities that are on offer, in an informal environment.
Serious illness and referral to a Hospice can stir up strong emotions and anxieties. We want to help relieve these. The Hospice team, including the Chaplain, will be happy to listen to any concerns you, your family or carers may have.
If you wish to talk to a minister or community leader of your choice, this can be arranged.
A team of experienced nursing and medical staff are available to provide specialist care, within the Hospice setting, to people requiring symptom control.
This service provides comprehensive treatment to people with a certain form of lymphoedema. Treatment is available on an in-patient or out-patient basis.
Social care support is available to patients, their families and carers. This support may be regarding personal or family issues, practical or emotional problems, arrangements for discharge from the Hospice or finding further information.
Carers' Support Group
holds weekly meetings for carers, offering an opportunity to enjoy massage or Reflexology, chat, or just relax. Transport to the group can be arranged if needed.
Macmillan Family Support Service
This service (which is funded for five years by Macmillan Cancer Support) offers both pre and post bereavement support to families where there are children and young people (under 18) directly affected by the illness of a loved one.
Bereavement Support
This is offered by the In-patient and Community Teams, the Chaplain and the Social Care Team. The Hospice has its own Bereavement Service- a team of trained volunteers- offering support to families and carers.
Special teams provide Catering, Housekeeping, Maintenance and Gardening services, supporting the Clinical Teams in providing quality care and maximum comfort for patients.
