Good hygiene is imperative

Infection control and prevention is taken very seriously at Willen hospice. Staff at the hospice follow strict procedures and, as a result of this, infection rates are very low. However, if you have any concerns about any issue regarding infection control please do not hesitate to ask any member of staff.

How you can  help us prevent infection

Everyone can help combat infections when visiting Willen Hospice by following these simple steps:

• Always use the alcohol based foam that is available in every room at the hospice. It provides a simple, quick and effective way to stop the spread of bacteria that might cause infections. MRSA and other hospital infections are usually passed on by human contact, often from the skin of the hands which is why washing and cleaning hands is so important in our efforts to reduce infection rates. Alcohol foam is very effective in killing germs and is easy to use even on sensitive skin. Simply rub the foam onto dry hands and let it evaporate.
  
• Always wash hands or use the alcohol gel when entering and leaving the hospice. This is located in Reception.
  
• Always wash your hands after using the toilet, or before and after preparing food.
  
• If you are concerned that staff are not cleaning hands or adhering to infection control procedures, please remind them.
  
• If soap or hand towels are not available, or if the bathroom and toilet facilities are not clean, please tell a member of staff.
