Michael Austen – Day Hospice Patient talks about his experiences and feelings about the Day Hospice…..

“This word ‘Cancer’ seems to terrify people, people who haven’t got it don’t know how to handle it – coming here everyone is in the same boat so you can talk about it. It is mostly people talking to each other. I have a massage every week which helps with the pain and it is relaxing – you can get a hair cut if you want to! You get a very good lunch, they even collect you and deliver you home.

The Hospice is not God’s waiting room, it is not full of people waiting to die, it is full of people trying to live.”
