Volunteering is a challenge
Volunteers are involved in sorting, pricing and selling our good quality second hand books.
Since giving his time to Willen Hospice, enthusiastic young volunteer Mark Smith has been able to combine two of his passions - a love of books and a desire to help people within the community.
Mark works at Willen Hospice Book Shop in Stony Stratford and is one of a growing number of younger volunteers who feel that they can benefit from the valuable experience such an environment provides.
Mark is particularly interested in history and, along with a variety of other subjects, likes discussing this topic with customers.
Mark says he has gained valuable interpersonal skills and each time he is in the shop sets himself targets. This could be anything from increasing book and lottery ticket sales to serving and meeting the specific requirements of his customers.
