We are incredibly grateful for the support we receive from our local community and those that take part in amazing challenges to raise funds to support our care.  We caught up with David Corbett who is taking on such a challenge this June...

At the end of June David and three of his friends -  James, Conor and Ellis -  will climb Ben Nevis via Carn Mor Dearg Arete, followed by a journey from the west coast of Scotland to the east, taking the Great Glen Way trail, followed up by canoeing the length of Loch Ness. In total, they'll be racking up around 140 km!

We caught up with David to get his story on why he and his friends are taking on this immense challenge to raise funds for Willen Hospice.

“I remember when I was younger being told about Willen Hospice for the first time by my parents, they explained that when people get too sick to look after themselves they can go to be looked after there; even at this young age I understood that Willen was a place of care and compassion. Fast forward many years and I started to see first-hand the work and care they provide towards family and friends, and was blown away at the quality of the services they provide.

If you speak to anyone from Milton Keynes I can bet Willen Hospice has played a part in looking after a loved one alongside providing emotional and bereavement support. This is why I have chosen to raise money for them. I'm a firm believer that charity starts at home and this amazing organisation operate pretty much on our doorstep, and it's clear to see how much of an impact donations make in continuing the day to day running of the hospice.

On June the 26th I and three friends will be heading up to Scotland to climb Ben Nevis, followed by 120k of trekking and canoeing from the west of Scotland to the east along the Great Glen Trail. Any donations made are greatly appreciated and will help this incredible organisation to carry on the work and care that they offer to so many. Thank you, David”
