Fi Jones, Willen Hospice’s Bereavement Co-ordinator, shares her Blue Week poem.

Blue is the colour that makes up the sky

A richness and depth, that reaches up high,

Dark or light; cloudy or clear,

Look at the sky you have nothing to fear.

Blue is the colour of the deep moving sea,

Many types of creatures, all living free,

Peaceful and calm; stormy and rough

Just like our lives, when the going gets tough.

Blue is the colour of the flowers that grow

Hyacinths, iris; crocuses in snow;

On banks, in meadows; gardens, by a stream,

Giving strength to families, left only with their dreams.

Blue is the colour of the Hospice week

Raising funds for patient care, new ways we seek,

Serious or adventurous; safe or just for fun,

Those who we care for, our work is never done.

Blue is the colour of the people you will see,

Sponsors, collections, ideas for you and for me,

Make it a good week, the best we've ever done,

Wear blue; raise cash; all while having fun!

At Willen Hospice we offer three specialist support services for families – Patient & Carers, Bereavement and Young People’s Support. Our annual Blue Week of fundraising helps support this service that we offer to our patients and their loved ones at the Hospice and in the community.
