Could you volunteer in our shops?
Could you volunteer at one of our Willen Hospice charity shops?
With just a few hours a week you can help us make a difference to people’s lives. We’re in particular need of volunteers to help us out on weekday afternoons in our Willen Hospice charity shops across Milton Keynes.
Your role could include
- Helping dress our shops & windows
- Sorting donated items for sale
- Serving customers
- Pricing items
- Being a keyholder
We went along to the Stony Stratford shop to meet some of our volunteers and find out what motivates them to help out in their own time.
Andrew is 41. He’s a data programmer who also likes running in his spare time. He volunteers for Willen to support a local charity and can see the impact Willen Hospice has on peoples’ lives.
Marie is 75 and proud of it! She is officially retired and once worked in a cotton mill. She also likes to help her family’s landscaping business. She has been volunteering for Willen for 12 years and likes it because she felt it was time to give something back. She also makes jam and cards which we sell in the shop. She is always very happy and loves coming to work.
Olly is 14. He is currently doing his GCSEs at Elizabeth Woodville school and enjoys playing football in his spare time. He started volunteering in October last year originally as part of the Duke of Edinburgh scheme. He likes volunteering because he feels he is giving something back to the community.
Bruna used to be a district nurse working in the community. She always enjoyed her job so she likes to be able to continue giving care in some way. She has been volunteering for Willen for 2 and a half years. When she is not at the shop she likes to keep fit and spends time with her twin grandchildren.
