Kerry Takes on 100 in 1
Kerry Shevlan has embarked on the biggest challenge of her life. Starting this November, she plans to run 100 half marathons or further in 1 year. And we are thrilled to hear that her amazing efforts will be raising funds for Willen Hospice.
Kerry started running mainly to lose weight. In 2015 she completed 15 half marathons before she stopped due to an injury. This year she started again and entered more and more events. She now has 50 races booked to the end of April 2019, travelling as far as Northampton, Cambridge, Nottingham and further north to compete. On some weekends, she has two runs booked in a row and will be doing the 10 in 10 as part of the 100 in 1. Fortunately she is in good company as her husband will be doing 12 marathons in 12 months!
In order to make each run special, Kerry is appealing to people to ask her to run in memory of a loved one. “Some people would love to take on a challenge in memory of someone they have lost, but for many reasons, cannot do so. I will be happy to run on their behalf in exchange for a donation to Willen Hospice”
For her Remembrance Runs a dedication will be worn on the back of her t-shirt and published in her Facebook group 100 in 1.
She says “My 100 in 1 challenge will include the London Marathon, which I have been trying (without success) to get a ballot for, for the past 8 years! I will now run it for charity!
“I chose Willen Hospice as this is a local charity to me and they do such good work in the community. I know many people who have had first-hand experience of the help and support that they give to their patients and their families. They need to raise £9 a minute so that people who are cared for, can receive their treatment completely free of charge.”
Thank you and good luck on your epic challenge Kerry, we’ll be following your progress and cheering you on!
