Local family delivers Reverse Advent Calendar to Hospice
This Christmas, a generous local family decided to make a special Reverse Advent Calendar to help Willen Hospice.
Kara and her grandad Allan, from Milton Keynes, filled a hamper with small gifts that would be welcomed by our patients or visiting families. They worked with the Hospice to ascertain the kind of items used, and the list ranged from emery boards, toiletries, boxes of tissues and hand cream to basic art supplies for the Wellbeing Centre.
This weekend they dropped off the hamper and met some of our nurses who were delighted to accept it on behalf of Willen Hospice.
Kara said "We as a family take so many things for granted like food, heath, warmth and family. The idea came from a conversation with granddad about doing gifts for older people who have no family or visitors at Christmas, and how not everyone has what we have. This is more about giving this Christmas, rather than the expectation to receive."
Allan, who chose Willen Hospice as the beneficiary of their gifts, said "The hospice is a good cause and helps people during difficult times"
Warm thanks from all at Willen Hospice for the family's kind and selfless gesture this Christmas.
