Willen Hospice takes charity challenges overseas
Take your fundraising overseas next year by taking part in one of two challenges Willen Hospice has arranged for 2019.
Our exciting Borneo Adventure takes place between 11 and 20 October and will see intrepid adventurers like you, take a ten day trek through the rainforest, where you can camp in remote villages, see amazing wildlife and even meet orangutans.
The challenge will take you and your fellow trekkers off the beaten track on jungle paths, through paddy fields, rubber plantations, fruit orchards and rivers. Experienced guides will teach jungle survival skills such as identifying edible fruits and foods and making traps, and a deeper understanding of the complex ecosystem.
If you're looking for an adventure a little closer to home, the Hospice has teamed up with Cycle4Good to arrange a cycling challenge that will take you cycling from MK to Paris between 26 –29 June 2019. The event follows on from the succesful MK to Amsterdam challenge earlier this year. It is ideal for cyclists of all abilities, so whether you're a keen rider or beginner, you can take part and help raise vital funds for Willen Hospice.
The Hospice is holding information evenings for both events in October:
Borneo Adventure: Tuesday 23 October at the Winter Gardens outside Bannatyne’s Health Club, Central Milton Keynes, 6.30pm. To find out more about the challenge, visit www.willen-hospice.org.uk/borneo
MK to Paris Cycle Challenge: Monday 29 October at The Caldecotte pub next to Caldecotte Lake, 7pm. To find out more about the challenge, visit www.willen-hospice.org.uk/mktoparis
Both evenings will provide further information, fundraising advice and the chance to meet the team. There is no need to book, simply turn up.
Challenges Fundraiser Chris Gregg, said: “These are both amazing challenges and a chance to see two stunning countries.
“They are a great way to challenge yourself, meet new people and most importantly, raise money for your local Hospice.
“We would love to see anyone who’s interested at our open evenings so we can explain more.”
Both challenges are open to anyone over 18 with a good level of fitness. To find out more about the adventure, including costs and sponsorship requirements, please visit www.willen-hospice.org.uk/borneo or www.willen-hospice.org.uk/paris
