Psychological Services Lead

22.5 hours per week

Up to £53,219 pro rata per annum

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Clinical/Counselling/Health Psychologist to work in a role focused on service development alongside clinical work, supervision and teaching. The role is ideal for someone interested and passionate about specialist palliative care and bereavement, and who also wishes to cultivate their service development and leadership skills within our Psychology Services here at Willen Hospice. This opportunity would give you experience of working within a charitable organisation, making it a unique and dynamic environment. Willen Hospice is the leading provider of specialist palliative care within the Milton Keynes area. In addition to our purpose built 15 bed In-Patient unit and Community Nursing provision, we have an expanding Therapeutic & Wellbeing service offering Psychological Wellbeing, Social Care, Physiotherapy, Occupational and Complementary Therapy, and a new Living Well Programme a programme of support and interventions to meet the individual needs if patients. Psychology provision is highly valued and respected within our organisation. The friendly cohesive and committed nature of our staff groups.

Your role will be an integral part of a wider MDT including health care, social care and allied health professionals.  Your leadership skills will support a newly established psychology and counselling team. In addition, to the team you will be responsible for the psychological supervision of nurses and skilled volunteers.  Clinical work offers unique opportunities to work individually and in groups with patients and their families as they navigate the experience of a palliative diagnosis, and also to work with those who are bereaved.

The Hospice is set in the tranquil grounds of Willen Lake and has excellent clinical and office space for staff as well as plenty of free onsite parking .Staff are welcome to enjoy the surrounding grounds in their breaks and also café facilities at the Hospice and The Well.

The successful candidate will be an experienced clinical/counselling/health Psychologist (with Doctorate) with extensive specialist knowledge underpinned by theory and a minimum of 3-4 years’ experience.

We are looking for candidates who are self-motivated with excellent management and communication skills, and who are highly organised to lead and support the continued development of this evolving service.
