Patient & Carers Support
How we can help
Our Patient & Carers Support Service offers emotional support and information for carers, family members and friends of patients known to the Hospice; giving the opportunity to share experiences, gain information about community resources or have the individual support of a trained volunteer.
Patient & Family Service volunteers are not trained counsellors but are highly trained in listening and support skills.
Volunteers are unable to give out their personal contact details, if you need to change an appointment, please ring the Hospice telephone number 01908 663636 and ask for a message to be passed to the volunteer who will then ring you to re arrange.
All information given to a volunteer is subject the normal confidentiality guidelines. However, should any information be given to a volunteer that raises a cause for concern around the vulnerability or safety of yourself or someone else, then they have a duty to pass on their concerns to the Patient & Family Services Team or relevant team at Milton Keynes Council. All volunteers are DBS checked.
Young People’s Support Service: An adult must be available within the home at all times during support sessions.
