Family support

Everyone in your family can be affected when a family member is seriously ill. It can sometimes be difficult for you to talk to each other about the illness and the impact it has on the family, as it may be an emotional and distressing time.

How we can help

“As an adult or parent you may find it awkward to find the right words or to know how to answer questions children might have, especially as you wouldn’t want to burden them. If you are concerned about your children’s wellbeing or any behavioural changes, we are here to help” – Theresa Erhard, Social Care

At Willen Hospice we are committed to supporting the whole family, as well as our patients, through this journey. We invite you, as parents or guardians of children of all ages, to join our virtual workshops and explore what may be working for your family, how to talk with young people about emotionally difficult things, share resources and meet other parents.

Our meetings

All you need is a smart phone, tablet or laptop and access to the internet. Once you have registered with the service you will receive a Zoom invite to join one of our groups, hosted by our Social Care team. The six workshops will be held in small groups on Tuesday mornings from 10 – 11am.
