Last year we held our first ever 48 Hour Relay Run, and it was so much fun that we’ve decided to team up with our friends at energie Fitness MK to do it all over again.
The challenge is simple:
Choose a 20, 40, or 60 minute time slot during the 48 hours – you can run outside, in your garden, up and down the stairs, or around the living room, it’s up to you.
Pass the virtual ‘baton’ to the next runner by logging into Zoom before and after your run (we’ll email you a Zoom link before the event). For example, Runner B logs on five minutes before their time, and waits for Runner A to get back, when runner Runner A logs back on, Runner B can start their run (with lots of ‘Go! Go! Go!’ shouting from the team on Zoom!), then Runner C logs on five minutes before their time, and waits for Runner B to come back…
Once you’re signed up, set up a fundraising page and ask your friends and family to sponsor you. You can set up a sponsorship page on websites like JustGiving, or on Facebook here.
Join our closed Facebook group so you can meet your fellow runners, share fundraising tips, check out last year’s event, and bring the community together in a virtual and safe way.
Who can take part
The run is open to everyone, from families with children aged 4+, Couch to 5Ks, gym bunnies or marathon runners.
The relay will start at 8am on Friday 19 March, and end at 8am on Sunday 21 March
Entry costs £5 per 20 minute time slot. For example, 20 minutes = £5, 40 minutes = £10, and 60 minutes = £15
We’d love it if you could film yourself taking part so we can create a video to celebrate everyone’s achievement.
Your sponsorship is crucial
It costs us £26,000 to fund just 48 hours of care, and currently our nurses and doctors are working harder than ever. Despite our drop in fundraising income, we are offering extra support to help our community during the pandemic. We are taking on even more patients to help free up beds in the hospital, and caring for more people at home so they only go to hospital as a last resort, and if they do, our nurses work with the hospital to get them discharged and back home as soon as possible.
We know finances are tight for some of us right now, but if you can, we are kindly asking for a minimum £50 sponsorship . Not only will this help keep you motivated, but you’ll truly be making a difference.
Government guidelines must be followed at all times.
We can only provide the care we do thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, through their continued volunteering, fundraising and donations throughout the year. Your donation will enable us to continue providing care and support to those facing a life-limiting diagnosis, and to support their loved ones.
