Fundraising ideas

Get moo-re sponsorship with these handy ideas

This year we’re aiming to raise £125,000 for Willen Hospice with our Summer of Moo – and we need your help to get there!

If you can, we’re kindly asking you to set yourself the goal of raising at least £100 through sponsorship and fundraising activities. Here are some ideas to help get you started:

Set up an online giving page and share, share, share!

This is one of the most popular and easiest ways to raise money and it’s simple to set up. You can use any online site, with the most popular being Justgiving, GoFundMe, Facebook Fundraising, or Enthuse when you sign up for the Moo. Make sure to share why you’re doing the Moo, especially if it’s in memory of a loved one, and add a fundraising goal of £100 or more. When it’s ready, send it out to as many people as possible. Share on social media, send the link to friends and family, and email it around to your colleagues.

Think of it this way, you just need 10 people to donate £10, so the more people that see your fundraising page, the more people will donate!

If you need help setting your page up, just email Or if you prefer a paper sponsorship form, you can download one to print off:

Get social!

Keep your fundraiser fresh in people’s minds by sharing your progress and online giving page as much as possible on social media. This can be photos of you on training walks, a photo of you in your Moo t-shirt when you get it, a ‘one month to go’ countdown, and of course, photos from the event. In fact, most donations come in after an event has taken place, so don’t be disheartened if you’ve not raised £100 by the time your Moo rolls around – just keep sharing afterwards celebrating your achievement!

Set yourself a challenge, within a challenge

You’re going to walk 5 or 10 miles anyway, so why not get extra sponsorship for your training? Ask for a £1 a mile and walk 100 miles over several days, or aim to reach 10,000 steps a day and get extra donations to keep you motivated.

Ask your workplace about match funding

Does your workplace offer match funding? Ask them! Many companies do this and it’s a huge bonus. For example, if you raise £50, your company will ‘match’ this and donate another £50, and then you’ve reached your goal already! We’ll be happy to help you with the application process, just email

Sell unwanted items

Having a summer clear out? Sell your unwanted items and put the money towards your fundraiser!

Ask for donations instead of gifts

Have you got a birthday coming up? If you’ve got everything you need then ask for donations to your fundraiser instead of gifts and cards.

Throw a summer party!

Get in the mood for the Summer of Moo by throwing a summer party for your friends and family. Charge your guests entry, hold raffles* or an auction! We’ll be more than happy to give you a donation pot to collect cash donations, just email

*Make sure to read our fundraising guidelines before holding a raffle
