Job Vacancy: Spiritual Care & Community Engagement Lead / Chaplain
37.5 hours per week
Salary Circa £28,000 per annum
We are looking for someone to join our Willen Hospice team and lead spiritual care and community engagement. You'll be confident in your own faith, but able to relate comfortably and reassuringly to patients of all faiths, and those with none.
The role supports the continued delivery of excellent care for an adult hospice with 15 in-patient beds, a Wellbeing Centre, and a large community team which visits up to 300 people in their own homes each year.
We would like someone who is enthusiastic, innovative and committed to the ongoing development of Spiritual Care for patients, relatives and staff throughout the organisation. Working within the Therapeutic & Wellbeing Service to provide spiritual and pastoral care across the Hospice, the focus of the role will be to support those searching for meaning, hope and direction, providing an informed ethical, theological and spiritual resource for all.
You will also be responsible for engaging with local communities to help support and enable discussion about end of life and bereavement; building links with hard to reach communities and raising awareness of what we do. As part of your role you will support and manage a small team of chaplaincy volunteers with responsibility for recruiting further volunteers to join the team.
We would ideally like you to have some experience of working within the healthcare system, have pastoral experience, know about audit, and have a desire to work within a team and have knowledge of current health issues.
In return we offer support and training in an environment that acknowledges and values the spiritual dimension of health, a generous annual leave entitlement starting at 35 days pro rata (inclusive of statutory and bank holidays) and increases with length of service, pension scheme, enhanced maternity, adoption and sick pay provision and excellent catering facilities at the Hospice. The role is based in Milton Keynes.
We are an organisation whose valued workforce is recognised for its unique skills and talents with our patients, and with an excellent local reputation.
