Willen Hospice proudly supported Hospice UK’s Dying Matters Awareness Week, it was our chance to share the benefits of talking about dying and grief with our staff, patients and their families and the Milton Keynes community.

Around the Hospice, we displayed noticeboards with conversation starters and asked our staff to share their stories. We also encouraged our followers on social media to think about starting those difficult conversations with their families.

Caroline Loxton, our Practice Development Lead worked with national charities, MacIntyre and Marie Curie on a Live Twitter chat discussing support for people with learning disabilities through end of life care and bereavement.

It is only through these conversations that we are able to personalise our specialist palliative care and respect individual wishes. We want everyone to be #InAGoodPlace when they die – whatever that means for them.
