The Milton Keynes Palliative Care Community Hub

24-hour palliative support

In autumn 2023 we launched the Milton Keynes Palliative Care Community Hub – an advice and support line open 24 hours a day.

Anyone who is receiving palliative care and is registered with a GP in Milton Keynes is eligible to call. The service is also open to patients’ carers and families, as well as healthcare professionals.

Practical and emotional help

The Hub provides help and support with any aspect of palliative care, including practical advice, symptom relief, emotional support, medication advice and planning future care.

Day or night, you can call the team for support and reassurance with any concerns you have. You may be referred or signposted to our own specialist Hospice services, which are entirely free of charge, or other services in Milton Keynes that can provide the required support.

Staff from our experienced, highly qualified Willen at Home and In-Patient Unit teams are answering the Hub line, working closely with healthcare providers, including GPs, the hospital, community nursing teams and paramedics.

Reaching more people

We are the only provider of specialist palliative nursing out in the Milton Keynes community, and we want to reach a larger number of patients earlier and identify those in crisis.

Our aim in creating the Hub is to improve care and quality of life for people across Milton Keynes who have a life-limiting condition, by providing a single point of contact for them to get the help they need.

The Hub was set up with the support of the Bedford, Luton and Milton Keynes (BLMK) Clinical Commissioning Group, and has funding to run for 12 months.

For advice and support, call the Hub on 01908 306962.
