Local men, Cliff Stevens and Jeff Hilyard have raised over £3500 for Willen Hospice by walking an entire marathon in just one day. This money could help pay for four new Syringe Drivers, which continuously deliver medicine to help manage symptoms in a comfortable way.

The friends have both had parents cared for by Willen Hospice, and Cliff now works for the charity as a bank Hospice driver. They decided to take on this epic challenge to help raise vital funds for the Hospice, which has seen a huge drop in income due to the pandemic, with shops closed for months and much of their fundraising activity postponed or cancelled.

Dawn Clark, Challenges Fundraiser, said: “Cliff and Jeff are a prime example of how much you can raise if you just go for it. It’s been a really challenging time for the charity; our services are needed more than ever, and at the same time we have had to stop the many ways we fundraise. We really are relying on amazing people like Cliff and Jeff, to take on their own challenge and fundraise to help keep our doors open.”

Willen Hospice needs to raise £4.7million every year, that’s £9 a minute, and taking on a challenge is a great way to fundraise. Find out more about taking on your own challenge.
