As Secondhand September comes to a close, we’d like to highlight how our lovely customers make small changes throughout the year to support sustainable fashion.

The same small changes to our shopping habits allow us access to style at an affordable price, as we all tighten our belts through the cost of living crisis.

Our customers re-use and recycle items donated to our shops by our supporters.  Some re-imagine existing outfits into ‘perfect for them’ unique vintage fashion. Which is exactly what Julie did.

Julie was shopping for some vintage fashion fit for the Goodwood Revival Festival and a couple of weeks ago, she left our Woburn Sands shop with some second hand purchases which sparked her imagination.

Julie talked us through the alterations that she made to turn the clothes donated by our amazing supporters into this stunning vintage outfit.

Julie told us how she “added the lace collar and covered white buttons down the front.
For the 1950’s feel she wanted for the classic car festival, the skirt length needed taking up.  Julie went on to say “The skirt was long length so I took it up by removing the waist band making a tube for elastic, taking it up and then attaching that to the top”

The outfit was perfectly complemented by this gorgeous coat which she also thrifted from our shop.

Julie then contacted us to share her delight and some wonderful pictures of her creation finished off with the perfect pair of red heels!

“A dress that was just perfect, for a perfect price and supporting my favourite charity shop and a charity that is close to my heart by up-cycling some amazing donated clothes.”

Thank you so much for sharing your pre-loved story, Julie.
