Inspired by our Midnight Moo, join us for a day-time 5 or 10 mile walk with pit stops along the way*. Enjoy a fun, relaxed atmosphere as you make your way around the route, catching up with friends, family or colleagues. The 10 mile routes starts and finishes at Emerson Valley, and the 5 mile route finishes at The Good Gym in Kiln Farm*Subject to change for 2024.
Willen Hospice needs to raise £5.9 million every year to continue providing specialist, compassionate care completely free of charge to local people affected by a life-limiting illness. By taking part in our Midday Moo and getting sponsorship, you’re helping us to care for the families who need us. We would love it if you could set yourself the target of raising £100 to help us continue our important work.
Did you know that just a single share of your fundraising page on social media on average raises £30? Find out more useful fundraising tips here, or once you’ve signed up, keep an eye on your inbox for our Moosletter, which will include updates about the night, fundraising tips and tricks, and stories showing the difference your support makes.
The Midday Moo walk begins at 12pm, so make sure to arrive at 11am. The Midday Moo walk starts from the Milton Keynes Rugby Football Club (MKRUFC), MK4 2DN, at the Sports Pavilion in Emerson Valley*. If you’re walk 10 miles you’ll finish back at MKRUFC, usually around 3pm depending on how quickly you make your way around the route. If you choose to walk 5 miles, you will finish at our ‘Half-Moo’ mark at The Good Gym MK, MK11 3L. Please note, if you choose to walk the 5 mile route, you will have to arrange your own transport. You can either leave your car at The Good Gym before 11am, and arrange transport to the start at MK Rugby Club, Emerson Valley. Or you can park at the event start at MK Rugby Clun and arrange transport pack, or organise for someone for pick up/drop off. *Subject to change It costs £20 to register, which includes a Midday Moo t-shirt to walk in, a ‘Moo pack’, with the route map, in-memory bib and fundraising ideas, and a finisher’s Moo medal when you cross the finish line. This is the route you’ll be walking on the day. The 10-mile route starts and finishes at Milton Keynes Rugby Football Club (MKRUFC), and the 5-mile route ends at our halfway point at energie Fitness gym, Kiln Farm. There is plenty of parking available at the Sports Pavilion in Emerson Valley. 5-mile route walkers can leave their car at energie Fitness and arrange a lift or taxi to the starting point, or vice versa. Our Midday Moo is a very well organised event, with walk leads showing the way, a ‘tail-end charlie’ who walks the entire route from the back to make sure no one is left behind, as well as a fantastic support crew and vehicles if any assistance is needed. The Midday Moo used to be an event for only men, but since 2020 we have opened it up to everyone aged 12+. Anyone under 18 must be supervised by an adult at all times. The route is also accessible for most abilities. If you have any queries, email events@willen-hospice.org.uk. As this is a day-time walk, well-behaved dogs are welcome to join. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times and able to walk the 5 or 10 mile route, or have a Pet Stroller they can go in for a rest. Please make sure you provide your dog with water and you must clean up after them. Dogs must be kept outside the venues, unless stated otherwise. Along the route will be various ‘pit stops’ where you can stop in for one free drink. You’ll be given a wristband to show you’re participating in the event, and you can choose to order a soft-drink or alcohol drink*. Anyone under the age of 18 will be given a different colour wristband for the participating venues to identify. You can stop off at other pubs on the route if you wish, but please be aware that we’ll start packing up the event from 5.30pm. Midday Moo event details
We are grateful to Marshall Amplification for kindly supporting our Midday Moo event once again. Without their support, this event would not be possible.
Since 1962 we’ve had an impact on, not only, sound but also to the people behind the music. The first Marshall amp was created after young muscians visited Jim’s shop in Hanwell in search of a new amplifer. When they couldn’t find the sound they were after Jim and his team go to work and delivered. The Number 1 earned 23 orders on its first day in store and the rest, as they say, is history. Decades later, people are still using Marshall to achieve their desired sounds.
*Participating venues only.
