ITV Anglia News joined the Willen Hospice after-school party at Gulliver’s Land Theme Park to hear from local families who were making memories and making a difference.

We were so grateful that an incredible ambassador for the Hospice, Marta, was able to share her thoughts to TV viewers in our region. Marta was enjoying some family time, while supporting the Hospice at Gulliver’s, and kindly agreed to speak to the Anglia News crew to share her experiences of the care she, her four children and her late husband Steve received. Marta is an incredible inspiration, watch her tell story in her own words below or  read Marta’s story here

Our annual Community Party is one of our favourite events and we love spending time with local families who enjoy the usual fun rides as well as additional games and stalls organising by our Community Fundraising Team and all raising vital funds for Willen Hospice. Huge thanks to everyone  who joined us and those who donated new unwanted gifts at the entrance, these will be used as raffle prizes to help raise funds for the Hospice.

Thanks to our friends at Gulliver’s Land Resort, we are able to offer tickets for just £7 with 50% of proceeds going to Willen Hospice. Nikki Poole, Events and Community Fundraising Manager said “We are incredibly grateful to Gulliver’s Land Theme Park Resorts for giving us this amazing opportunity once again. It was a fantastic day last year, which raised £3,500 for the Hospice. This money helps us to care for not only the patients who need our specialist services, but also their families. We currently have 40 children being supported by Willen Hospice, helping them to cope with grief and the heartache of having a loved one with a life-limiting illness.”

Our Community Fundraising team work tirelessly throughout the year and we’d like to congratulate them on another successful event. We just couldn’t do it without the support of our incredible volunteers on the day who came from local businesses, regular volunteers and colleagues. If you would like to volunteer in our community for Willen Hospice, we’d really appreciate some more pairs of hands, find out more here or email communityfundraising@willen-hospice.org.uk
